I lift my eyes to the mountains
Dear friends,
In the last few days I have literally been able to lift my eyes to the mountains and marvel at the splendour and beauty of God's creation, as the monsoon clouds have finally lifted and the mountains that were there all along are now visible.
It has been a busy time as life has opened up more here and seems to be returning to some semblance of "normal". I have been so impressed with the students at school and how responsible they have been in following the protocols to help keep us all safe. The students are now allowed to play with anyone in Primary at break and lunch times which has just been so lovely to see. The teaching has switched from a Zoom focus to an "in person" focus with any students that need to isolate or who are not able to be in Nepal able to see into the classroom from Zoom.
So many things are happening now which bring me joy. The secondary students are busy rehearsing for our "Nutcracker Reimagined" Christmas production which I wrote the script for (with a lot of help from my sister!) earlier in the year. It's so wonderful to be part of an awesome team that is directing it and to see it all come to life. Particularly for the students to have something really positive that they are able to work together on after being apart for so long in their individual homes. We are in the final couple of weeks before the performances start now - please pray that the Covid situation here stays stable/improves such that we will be able to perform it live.
Something else that is so lovely is the way that I've been able to reconnect with the community here and spend quality time eating together, chatting, praying, playing games and just being with really inspiring and amazing people of all different ages and nationalities.
I'm back in Kathmandu Chorale too every Monday night - I love getting to sing as part of a choir and this one is epic - the sound that we make together (despite being outside and singing through masks!) is something really special. We have a few gigs coming up in the run up to Christmas so that will be super fun too.
Getting to lead worship and go after the presence of God with others who are sold-out for Him is also SUCH a joy and makes me come alive, as well as getting to spend feeding and hanging out with our street friends on a Friday night.
And there is so much more that I could say. I feel very favoured and blessed to be here in this time that God has given me.
There is still, however, a lot of need everywhere I look. Please don't forget Nepal in your prayers.
Here are some ways you can pray specifically:
Pray for the most vulnerable in this nation.
Pray for the businesses - cafes, shops etc who have been struggling financially through the lockdowns.
Pray that schools will be able to stay open and particularly for protection for our KISC community.
Pray that God will use me to carry His presence wherever I go.
Love to each of you today,
Hannah
