Happy Nepali Christmas
Dear friends,
Happy Christmas! I pray that you are well and that you are finding joy in this season in spite of frustrations and restrictions. December has been a very eventful month here.. we started off the month with a school inspection which we passed with flying colours! On 3rd December it was my birthday and a whole group of us went for dinner which was really lovely.
Our school production of "The Nutcracker Reimagined" happened live, in person, for 3 nights with an audience and EVERY SINGLE PERSON involved in the production was there and healthy (we're talking about more than 50 students and lots of members of staff). No one needed to isolate or anything within those 3 performance days which was a total miracle. And it was a huge success - just beautiful to see the community gathering and celebrating our incredible students. I felt very proud!
The week after the Nutcracker, we had our Kathmandu Chorale concert which, again, was a wonderful opportunity to be in the community and perform in-person.
Then it was the end of term and we had our first in-person staff social in a very long time which was, again, all about the joy of being together - all the more remarkable considering that we have been scattered all around the world for so long.
And six of us just got back from a mini-break to Chitwan in the Terai (low land) region. We stayed in a village lodge and went on a jeep safari, walked with elephants, went cycling around the area and ate some really good food. It was a really lovely place to relax, pray and watch the world go by.
Yesterday we had the most amazing Christmas Day with such a kind family from the UK here in Nepal who opened their home to many of us and we ate amazing food and played crazy games, just like being back home with my family!
So I am feeling unbelievably blessed to be living in this place with people who I can walk with, dream with, pray with and live life with. This is home for me now.
Thank you for continuing to pray for me and support me.
PRAYER REQUESTS
That the Covid situation will remain stable/decrease in Nepal. Right now the numbers are low and the hospitals are not full of Covid patients. Please pray that it stays that way.
That colleagues and families from KISC who are not in the country right now will be able to come in smoothly.
That families and colleagues who are about to join us at KISC will travel and settle smoothly.
For God to bring the right people to fill posts that are still vacant at school - particularly a Head of Secondary.
Please also continue to pray for my church here and all of the amazing things that are happening among the different communities that they are involved with, which I also get the privilege of being a part of.
And just pray for me - however God leads you, that I will stand firm and love Jesus and those around me with everything.
May you know the joy and peace of Jesus this Christmastime.
With so much love,
Hannah xx
