Blessed

One of my students introduced me to this song last year and I now often find myself listening to it and singing along as I dance around my classroom!

Yes I'm so blessed! On my best day, I'm a child of God and on my worst day, I'm a child of God. Every day is a good day (no matter what the circumstances are around me) because Jesus is the One who is making my heart beat in my chest, putting breath into my lungs and holding me together.

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.... For in him we live and move and have our being." Acts 17:24-25, 28

So many things to be thankful for:

It's the monsoon season here right now which means that everything is lush and green and beautiful! So full of life after months of dry and dusty.

I have a wonderful new Grade 4 class: 22 students (with another coming in a few weeks) from Australia, South Korea, China, Nepal, UK, US, Germany, India and Bolivia. Every day teaching at KISC feels like I'm in a United Nations meeting and it's beautiful to get to be a part of. We also have brand new furniture in Grade 4 this year which is such a blessing.

Here is my classroom, my 5th year of teaching in here so it definitely feels like mine.

God has provided new staff at school (and there are still a few to come) which is SUCH a blessing to us. One of the hard things about a community like this is having to say "goodbye" so frequently as people move on but one of the beautiful things about that is then more people come and it's really fun getting to know them, hearing their stories and seeing what God has put inside them. I don't think you would just randomly find yourself at KISC, so those who are here are those who are called to serve and the international volunteers are staff who have left everything in their home countries to come and make home here.

Farewelling the students who were leaving in Grades 4 and 5 before the summer.

I have an amazing church community both in the UK (who I am blessed to be able to connect with each week over Zoom) and here in Kathmandu. My church here, at Freedom House, is such a joyful place of freedom and fullness of life. Yesterday I was somewhat distracted by the baby goats that were coming and hanging out in the worship time 😊

Am I happy all the time? It may look like it to some of you, but no, not always..! Am I blessed all the time though? Yes! Absolutely.

There are many challenges that come my way and the last few weeks have been particularly challenging.. some things are really hard and uncertain and I feel would lead to a lot of anxiety and bitterness if I didn't know Jesus. But I don't feel that way at all because I do know Him, I trust Him and I want to stay soft and hidden in His hands. He is the artist and the potter, I am the canvas and the clay.

For prayer:

- The new KISC staff that are arriving in the coming weeks, that they would quickly root here and feel part of the community.

- Teaching vacancies that we have (we still desperately need an English teacher in Secondary and French/German teachers).

- For me and my new Grade 4 students, that I would teach them well and pour all that I can into them of the goodness of who God is in these short months that I have them for.

- For provision in every way (physical, emotional, spiritual, financial)

- For grace, humility and wisdom in the challenging situations that I face.

- For deeper depths of diving into who God is - I want to know Him more and love Him more and live a life that reflects Him more.
