Living in the UK, Working in Nepal

Hi friends and family,

I'm sorry that it has been a while since I shared. I had summer break from the middle of June until the end of July. I spent the time at home with my family which was really nice. Lots of Zoom meetings and a few face-to-face hang outs in the garden, in parks and on walks with people I love.

I also managed a couple of flights with Dad, in his light aircraft - we went round the Isle of Wight (The Needles were particularly spectacular) and we went hunting the White Horses of Wiltshire.

Apart from that, I have spent lots of time reading, recording worship, cycling and I even completed an online course and exam to become a Google Educator level 1.

Now I am back living with my friend in Stubbington, on the South coast, on Nepal time (4h45m ahead of the UK) and teaching online. We have just started our third week of online lessons and I am really enjoying teaching my new class. It is a bit bizarre that I haven't taught them in person, some of them I have never even met in person! But I am really thankful that we are connecting well over Zoom and I had a number of them in different after school clubs which I ran last year, which I am extremely grateful for.

I am also pleased that I am able to connect into my home church even though I am living in a different part of the UK and living on a different timezone - the wonders of technology!

When am I going back to Nepal? This is the question that everyone, including me, is asking! The only answer I can give is when God makes a way...! I long to be back in person, at school, with my housemates, my colleagues, my kids. But there are a lot of factors involved and I don't know yet when that will be a reality. While school is online, I may as well be in the UK. The only disadvantage is getting up at 2:15am every day! But we've set all the clocks onto Nepal time so it's not as hard as it sounds. I go to bed around 6-7pm so I still get enough sleep! I am very thankful for blackout curtains..! And it means I get to have high speed internet (essential for online teaching!), live by the sea (pretty important for my emotional wellbeing!), eat nice cheese (yum!) and get to drive and see my family every few weeks.

Thank you for your support and kindness. KISC (my school) are still looking to recruit some secondary staff - Art, Humanities, so please pray for staff provision during this turbulent time. If you teach any of these subjects at secondary level and want to come and work for a truly remarkable school, then please email recruit@kisc.edu.np Please pray for wisdom for the leadership of the school as they have various decisions to make. And please pray for my Grade 4 class - they are wonderful. Please pray that I teach them really well even though it's all virtual, but that God gives me His ideas and inspiration.

Love to you all,

Hannah
