Room at the table
Hello friends,
My heart is so full of so many different emotions and circumstances at the moment that I'm not sure how I am going to eloquently give you a snapshot of life here in a blog post, but I will do my best.
We are now back fully on site at KISC, and have been for the last 4 weeks, with almost all restrictions lifted, which I am SO thankful for - no more online teaching!
I managed to get a Moderna booster a couple of weeks ago, very last minute which was such a blessing! They were offering different boosters here, but I was really keen to have something that I knew would be recognised in the UK.
The weather has suddenly turned from winter to summer here! Makes me very happy although it changed at quite an alarming rate which means the bugs are back in force: flies, wasps and I even stepped on a cockroach the other day.
Last week was sad and intense as a friend and I prayed for a young man in ICU who had Covid and was in multiple organ failure. He passed away a week ago and his funeral last weekend was just devastating but also beautiful.
Friday nights on the streets have been intense but also incredible to sit with people and capture God's heart for them.
God has been speaking to me a lot in times of worship recently - I feel that I am in a season of impartation right now which is amazing and overwhelming.
I have friends in Russia who are in an unimaginably difficult situation right now, and friends in Moldova who are overwhelmed with Ukrainian refugees. Please pray for both, it breaks my heart.
This is a long term - 12 weeks, please pray divine sustaining power from God for all of us who are very tired.
Lots of interviews are taking place at KISC right now: we still need a Head of Secondary, a Head of Primary and there are various other teaching positions to be filled. Please pray for the people that God has planned to fill the roles.
A number of my friends are leaving Nepal in the summer which is also very sad but something to get used to when living in an international community. The longer I am here, the more this will happen. Already, out of the six of us who joined KISC together, there are only two of us left. Investing in others with intentionality - both in terms of colleagues, students, visiting teams etc is really important to do well here.
Enjoy these photos from the last few weeks:
One of my new favourite songs in this season is called "The Table" (Jonathan Traylor) - I love it because I think it captures my life here really well - inviting others into the freedom and life that we have been given in Jesus. And I love eating with and sharing life with people who have everything and who have nothing. Eating in fancy places and eating on the side of the road in the dust. Eating with people who look like me and people who don't look like me, with those who speak English and those who don't. With people who have a similar worldview to me and people who don't. There's something so beautiful and profound about doing life with people here that is raw and real. I love it - I wouldn't be anywhere else!
Much love to each of you and THANK YOU for your continued prayer and support - I wouldn't be where I am now without you.
Hannah xx
