Cable cars and coconuts
Hello everyone,
I hope that you are well. We are now in Week 9 of 12 of this really long term. It's been a really lovely few weeks as the weather is getting warmer. My sister came to visit and it was fun to show her the city and have her at school - she mostly worked in secondary with the Head of English. We did some adventuring together, including going on a cable car to some amazing viewpoints (which would have been even more amazing if the mountains were visible...!)
We had a day off work yesterday as it was the Hindu festival of Holi. I had planned to travel to a different region of Nepal and stay with a friend who is working out there but plans fell through at the last minute, so Karen and I found some cheap flights and accommodation in Thailand and jetted off there for some sun and sea. It was glorious and absolutely what my soul needed. Drank from lots of coconuts, headed to an island for a few hours, saw a fire show, went snorkeling, lay on the beach, had a Thai foot massage, ate lots of amazing food and wondered at glorious views. Being in places like this overwhelms me again with how majestic and beautiful our creator God is.
It's my class assembly on "All you need is love" this Friday which is exciting - we are retelling the story of the Good Samaritan as well as a beautiful piece called "Ragman" by Walter Wangerin which depicts Jesus taking our sickness and brokenness upon Himself and exchanging our weakness for His glory. Here is an extract below, you can find the whole story online, or ask me and I'll send it to you if you're interested.
Things to pray for:
- Our assembly on Friday, that those there would be hit with a fresh revelation of God's love.
- Thankfulness for an incredible weekend in Thailand.
-Thankfulness for Rachel's visit
- Stamina, grace and perseverance and energy for the next 4 weeks.
- Please continue to lift up the nation and people of Nepal, who were made by God and belong to Him. I find the spiritual atmosphere here particularly thick during festivals and have such a longing for freedom for those whom I come into contact with.
So much love to each of you and thank you for your continued prayer and support.
